Vincent F. Coley
Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music
(Performer / Teacher)
Licensed Classical Guitar Tutor for;
ILEA Guitar Panel (1972-1990)
Kent Music (School) (1974-2006)

I commenced lessons in 1972 under the guidance of Adele Kramer, a retired Professor of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and later with Antonio Albeniz, a resident Professor at the Guildhall. I have them to thank for the years of challenging fun I have had introducing pupils, young and old, to the mysteries of the classical guitar.

I had been teaching and performing the classical guitar , privately and through schools, for over thirty years. My pupils ranged from seven years to adult, beginner to advanced level.

To encourage my students to progress to their best abilities, I organised private concerts twice a year, providing them an opportunity to play in front of very friendly audiences of parents and friends.

These concerts would anticipate the local Trinity College / Guildhall School exam dates, therefore giving a golden opportunity for my grade pupils,child or adult, to have a double reason to practice hard. Non-grade pupils would still enter.

To encourage my grade pupils to practice hard on their basic technique, I awarded a Scale and Arpeggio prize for the highest marks in this section of the exam.

I have now retired from teaching and spend my time playing the guitar, working on my tutor for beginners “Frets Without Tears” and exploring the Kent countryside around Whitstable.

“I stopped the World and got off at Whitstable."

I have a wide repertoire of duets for two guitars, guitar/violin, flute or oboe and am interested in playing duets with other local professional instrumentalists. So if you are interested and live in the Whitstable (Canterbury, UK) area, send me an email.
