8-Course Renaissance Lute
by Luthier, R.E. Brown, dated 1974.

Fingerboard width (at nut) 7.5cm, string length 62cm.
With 8 adjustable nylon frets on the fingerboard and 4 wooden frets on the body.

Should the student have any musical talent?
The most important talent/s for a pupil are enthusiasm and determination.
Musical talent alone very seldom achieves results.

When is the best time to start having lessons?
The simple answer is when you decide that you would like lessons  6-66 it doesn't matter.
I started having guitar lessons when I was 24 years old, however I do accept pupils as young as six, if they are strong enough to play the notes and would be able to understand the concept of  notation and the discipline needed to produce any results. (And a great deal of help, encouragement and understanding from the parents :-)

Did you know ....

Skills and attitude required in the workplace such as teamwork, communication, self-esteem, confidence, creativity and invention are precisely those acquired through studying music. Learning a musical instrument can greatly enhance a child’s achievements in the National Curriculum for Music.
